Name Wheel
Spin to pick a student, with no ads on your projector and no signup. The wheel uses your saved class and can take each winner off, so everyone gets a turn before anyone goes twice.
How to use it
- Choose your class from the menu at the top, or type names into the box. Absent students are left off the wheel automatically.
- Click Spin, click the wheel, or press Space. The winner appears in the middle with a little celebration.
- Click Spin again for the next student. Winners come off the wheel until everyone has had a turn; use Put back if you change your mind.
Questions teachers ask
Is the name wheel really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts moving, then the wheel is animated to stop on that name. Every name on the wheel has the same chance.
How do I make sure every student gets a turn?
Leave "Take winners off the wheel" switched on in Settings. Each winner comes off after their turn, and when the wheel is empty you can put everyone back with one click.
Will ads show on my projector?
No. Press Present (or the F key) to fill the screen with just the wheel and the Spin button. Nothing else appears while you're presenting.
How many names can I put on the wheel?
Up to 300 students per class. Labels shrink to fit, and with very large lists only the wider slices show their names, but every name can still win.
Can I turn the sound off?
Yes. Open Settings and untick Sounds. You can also change the spin length and choose between three colour sets designed to be easy to tell apart for colour-blind students.
Are my students' names saved anywhere?
Only in your own browser, if you save a class. Nothing is uploaded, and names typed straight into the wheel disappear when you close the tab.
